June is Pride Month: An Invitation to Reflection

June and the Pride Month, a period dedicated to the visibility of the LGBTQIAPN+ community. More than a celebration, it is a moment of awareness about the challenges faced by this population and reinforcement to importance of education, respect and inclusion all year round.

The importance of community recognition

Despite advances legal in Brazil, such as same-sex marriage and the right to a social name, prejudice still limits access to rights. Recognizing the LGBTQIAPN+ community goes beyond speeches: is to guarantee opportunities, security and respect in all social spaces.

Current News

According to G1, Brazil recorded 230 violent deaths of LGBTQIAPN+ people in 2024, including 127 homicides and 103 suicides. Transgender people and trans women account for 57% of the victims, demonstrating the high degree of vulnerability faced by these groups. The data reinforce the urgency of public policies and effective actions to combat violence and promote inclusion.

Inequality in the labor market

THE LGBTQIAPN+ community still faces obstacles important in the job market. Trans people, for example, face alarming rates of unemployment and marginalization. Affirmative action and internal diversity policies are fundamental to create fairer, more inclusive and safer professional environments for everyone.

Why is responsibility collective?

Guaranteeing rights and combating prejudice is a duty of all society. Transformation depends on the joint action of public and private institutions and the community in general, with continuous actions and not just specific ones in the month of June.
